About

WildBlueSucks.info was created by a new user of WildBlue Satellite Internet service. I moved a little further than DSL or Cable would reach so I decided to try WildBlue, recommended by DirecTV when I set up my Television service.

I talked with sales at Wildblue and they assured me that it was much faster than dial-up and actually compared well with Cable and DSL services as far as speed. When I asked about outages from storms they assured me that they only had minimal issues during “really bad thunderstorms” and went on further to say that “if a storm knocks out our service you will want to turn off any electronic equipment in your house that is unprotected”.

Needless to say after only a week of service I was tired of it. I tried to return the equipment and get out of the 12 month contract you are required to sign at install and have had no luck.

I set this site up in my second week of service to warn others and gauge interest in a class action lawsuit against WildBlue for deceptive business practices and misrepresentation of services.

Update: (29 Sept, 2010)

It seems that due to economic conditions and other variables (location, etc) that a class action against WB is less likely at this point unless we can raise money for attorney fees to start. I have talked with several attorneys that are not interested in taking it on without getting payment up front for a retainer. I have recently added some ads to the site in order to raise money to start, however, anyone wanting to donate to the cause is welcome as well – simply let me know your interest by emailing me (damion [at] mscoast [dot] net, subject wildblue)

This site will maintain up to warn others and comments are welcome. Anyone wanting to put out a complete post is welcome as well – just email me at the above email.
